Tales of the Zombie War is an ongoing, collaborative story site with hundreds and hundreds of zombie stories.
Tales of the Zombie War is a site inspired by World War Z. It bears, however, no official affiliation with Crown Publishing, Random House, or Max Brooks.
As the creators put it:
"It is an homage to the genre of zombie apocalypse-style fiction: Max Brooks' World War Z, George Romero '..of the Dead' movies, Shaun of the Dead, etc. Submissions of fan fiction which plagiarize copyrighted works or are derivative of them will not be considered for posting. "The editors explain that the site is not fan fiction. Instead, the stories and poems included are inspired by the zombie apocalypse scenario, as set by Romero, Brooks, and others like them.
All the creative work on the site is based on the following premise:
"Humanity has just barely triumphed over the zombie menace. Stories of the victories, failures, struggles and collapses, are just now filtering into the newly-reformed press. Everyone on Earth has a story about their experience in the zombie onslaught. Some stand out from others as examples of where humankind rose up to meet the challenge - or failed miserably to deal with the wave of ravenous dead."
Stories are listed with the most recent additions first
Another way to read the stories is to select them by author. For a good dose of short-story reading, I think this is the best choice. Also, if you are interested in discovering new authors, this option offers lots of opportunity.
Here are a few interesting names to explore:
